32-year-old youth drowns near Someshwar, Four others rescued

Mangaluru: September 3,2015: A 32 year old youth lost his life after drowning in a pond in Someshwar beach in Mangaluru on Wednesday.


The deceased has been identified as Naveen (32) from Chembugudde near Thokottu. Naveen was fifth child Jossie D’souza. It is learnt that his marriage was fixed and was schedule to be held in December.

According to the sources, Naveen and his four friends planned for a day out since it was holiday due to nation-wide strike. The four other friends are Nithin, Sunil, Mujahid and Rajesh.

The five youths played volleyball together and then visited Someshwar beach. After enjoying their time at the beach, they visited a pond which is located near Someshwar temple.

All five of them got down into the pond to take bath, and all of a sudden Naveen drowned in the water. Though his friends made attempt to rescue him, but failed.

It is learnt that four other youths were also washed away in the water, and with the help of locals they were rescued.

The locals pulled Naveen out of the water and took him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead.

A case has been registered at Ullal police station.
