24 injured in bus accident in Brahmavar

Udupi, Aug 29, 2012 : Around 24 passengers were injured when a private bus turned over at Soorebettu in Cherkady in Brahmavara on the morning of August 29, Wednesday.

The driver lost control of the bus and hit the brakes hard, as a result of which the bus dashed into a drain near the roadside. Among those injured are school children and college students as this happened during the peak hours.

However, the injuries are minor and all those injured are out of danger. Eyewitnesses say that lives would have been lost if the bus hit the electric pole nearby.

Several local people helped move the injured to nearby hospitals. Prabhu D. T., circle inspector for Brahmavar, Inspector Girish Kumar, and the president and vice president of the local panchayat visited the spot.
