196 new Covid-19 positive cases in DK, 41 cases in Udupi on Sunday

Mangaluru, July 12, 2020: 196 people from Dakshina Kannada and 41 people from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Five more Covid-19 fatalities were recorded in the DK district, while a 72-year-old patient from Davangere died in Manipal hospital today.

Out of the 196 cases reported in DK, 91 were cases of influenza like illness (ILI), 16 cases of SARI, 10 with international travel history and 20 are primary contacts of other patients. Contact tracing process of 57 patients is on and two are pre-delivery samples.

As many as 94 patients were discharged from hospital today. With today’s 196 cases, the total Covid 19 positive cases in the DK district rose to 2,230. As many as 876 persons have been discharged and 46 deaths have occurred including 5 deaths today.

Udupi district has reported 41 fresh cases on Sunday. Among them, 6 are inter-district travellers, two from Mumbai, one from Saudi Arabia and 32 primary contacts of other patients. Now, the Udupi district has a total of 1,608 cases with 332 still being treated at the designated hospitals. 1,273 patients recovered and discharged including 28 on Saturday. The district has reported four COVID-19 fatality.
