Mangaluru, Nov 30, 2014: State Minister for Primary and High School Education Kimmane Ratnaker has informed that the state government has taken measures to appoint a total of 17000 teachers by next June.

Speaking after inaugurating an Educational convention and workshop organised by the Dakshina Kannada Government Pre-University college Lecturers’ Association at the Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe Pre-University College Auditorium at Attavar in the city on November 29, Saturday, he said of the 17000 new teachers to be appointed, 11,000  will be appointed to fill  the existing vacancies, while additional 5000 appointments would also be made. The government would make 1,100  appointments for PU Colleges as well as 600 guest lecturers, he informed.

Giving further statistics of the Education Department he said 1.4 crore children are studying in the 80,000 educational institutions of the state. He also assured all efforts in a phased manner to solve the problems confronting the educational field.

B Ramanatha Rai, DK District in-charge Minister presided over the function. State Minister K Abhayachandra Jain, MLC  Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLA JR Lobo and others spoke on the occasion.

Chamegowda,  Joint Director of the PU Education Department, KR Timmaiah, Deputy Director, Walter D’Mello, DDPI, Cyprian Monteiro, DIET Principal, Jagajeevandas Bhandari, CET Counselling Nodal Officer and others were present.

Dr Norbert Lobo and Sunny Tharappan were the resource persons.
