Mangaluru, Aug 1, 2016 : Mangaluru Rural Police have arrested sixteen persons in connection with the case wherein some activists allegedly belonging to the Sri Rama Sene raided the St Thomas Aided Higher Primary School at Padu Bandanthila on July 30, Saturday on the grounds that Arabic and Urdu were being taught to the students forcibly.
The arrested persons are Sunil, Nitin, Rajesh, Raghavendra, Ravi, Nitin Shetty, Kishore Sanil, Chethan, Ravindra, Mukesh, Prakash, Jayantha, Chandrahasa, Dinesh, Santosh and Nitin. All are said to be Sri Rama Sene activists.
It may be recalled here that as many as 50 activists had raided the school and even had taken the headmaster of the school to task. The school had however maintained that Arabic was taught before class hours to interesting students only and that the decision was taken after a PTA meeting.
