Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2015 : A 14 year old boy, a class VII student of a government school in the city, has alleged that he was beaten up by two police men while he was returning after watching a movie along with his friends on the night of October 3.
According to the complaint lodged by the boy with the Kadri police, he along with his friends had watched the 9.45 pm show of a Kannada movie at Big Cinemas at Bharath Mall after their tuitions on October 3. After watching the movie they were returning home at 1 am when they were stopped near the auto stand outside KSRTC bus terminus by two men who came by a bike. The boy’s complaint said that the men, who according to him were police personnel questioned them for being on the road at that hour and that one of them reportedly slapped the boy and hit his thigh with a stick. It is learnt, the cops even snatched the mobile phone of the boy and termed the boys as ’thieves’ for moving around during night time.
The boy was later admitted to the hospital. It is said that the cops who hit the boy were from Urwa Police station.
Sources said the boy’s family was also planning to file a complaint with the Mangaluru Police Commissioner and Child Welfare Committee.
