Mangaluru, Oct 23, 2017: A Magistrate court here on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs. 70,000 against 14 college students, at the rate of Rs. 5,000 each, after finding them guilty of consuming cannabis. A joint team of Anti Rowdy Squad of Central Sub Division and Urwa Police on Thursday raided a place near St. Aloysius College and Sri Devi College and arrested the 14 students.
On Saturday, the Magistrate examined their medical reports and also heard the students who are said to have admitted to consuming cannabis.
Meanwhile, the Central Crime Branch Police on Saturday arrested Mohammed Riyaz (24) of Neerumarga for reportedly selling cannabis near the Karavali Institute of Technology there.
The police said that they recovered 250 grams of cannabis.
The CCB on Thursday arrested six persons who were reportedly consuming cannabis on the Tannirbhavi beach, and at a secluded place in Panchchanady, respectively.
