Mangaluru, June 5, 2020: Twenty four people from Dakshina Kannada and 121 from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, June 6. With this the total positive cases rose to 888 in Udupi and 175 in Dakshina Kannada.
Among the 24 positive cases in DK, 15 males, 6 females and 3 children. Eleven are Maharashtra returnees, six people from Dubai, one each from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The source of infection is yet to traced in the remaining 5 cases.
Fifteen people have been discharged from the hospital on Saturday in Dakshina Kannada. As on today, the district has 65 active cases and 103 persons have recovered and been discharged. District had registered seven deaths so far.
Udupi district has reported 121 positive cases on Saturday. Most of them have come from Maharashtra. With these additions, Udupi emerged as the worst affected districts both in terms of active and total cases. The district has a total of 888 cases with 734 still being treated at the designated hospitals. The district has reported only one COVID-19 fatality.
