The current academic year has begun with the slogan, “Proactive Administration for Effective Education,” he added.

Regarding the implementation of Right to Education (RTE) Act within the state, he said that the central government had asked the state government to use funds in the state treasury for RTE implementation, but the state has asked the centre to provide the funds because the state government cannot spend freely, he explained.

Regarding the menace of donations within schools, the minister said that anybody can complain against institutions demanding donations with the DC or the educational officers in the area. Simultaneously, he also said that CBSE and ICSE schools are not within the jurisdiction of the state educational board and that the state government has requested the centre to bring these schools under the ambit of the state education board to check the donation menace.

Expressing regrets about the decrease in the number of children getting admitted into Kannada medium schools, he said that the government is working to popularize primary education in Kannada. He also said that the government is no longer permitting new English medium schools in the state.
