1 killed, 15 hurt as 2 buses collide near Mulki

Mangalore, April 19, 2014 : A head-on collision between two buses at Kolnad near Mulky in the early hours of April 19, Saturday claimed the life of the drivers of one of the buses and left nearly 15 passengers injured.

The accident took place at around 5.45 am when a KSRTC sleeper bus heading towards Mangalore from Hubli rammed against a private bus named Pragathi operating between bangalore and Udupi.

According to sources, the KSRTC bus was over speeding and moving on the wrong side. Just as the driver tried to overtake another vehicle, the bus hit against the private bus coming from the opposite direction.

If the KSRTC bus driver died on the spot, the driver of the private bus sustained critical injuries. All the injured have been admited to Srinivas Hospital at Mukka.

Mulki police have registered a case.
