Byndoor, May 1, 2017 : A collision between two cars on the National Highway 66 near Maravanthe on May 1, Monday has claimed the life of one person. Nine others were injured in the mishap.
The accident took place between a Maruti car heading towards Udupi from Goa and a Swift car proceeding towards Byndoor from Mangaluru. Dhana Pandyan (36) from MG Road, Bengaluru who was driving the Maruti car died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. His children Kamali (4), Nidarshan (8), mother Saroja (65), father Kamashi (68) and wife Vasuki (32) have sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Manipal Hospital.
Those in the Swift car namely Sujatha (44), Krishna (52) and two others were also injured and are undergoing treatment at Chinmayi Hospital, Kundapur.
Both the cars were badly mangled due to the impact of the collision. Gangolli Police have registered a case.
