’Talamaddale Sapthaha’ at University College November 9 to 15

Mangaluru, Nov 7, 2014 :  A press release has been informed that a week or ’Sapthaha’ of ‘Talamaddale’ will be organised at the University College from November 9 to 15.   Renouned amateur and professional artistes would participate in the event organised by Yakshangana, Mangalore, in association with P. Dayananda Pai and P. Satish Pai, and Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra, Mangalore University.

A book in memory of professional Yakshagana artiste late Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty would be released during the inauguration. Mayor Mahabala Marla would release the book. In addition, an award in his memory would be presented to senior ‘bhagawatha’ (singer) Polya Lakshminarayana Shetty, Mumbai, at the valedictory on November 15. A scholar on Yakshagana M. Prabhakara Joshi would speak on the late artiste, the release added.

The ‘prasangas’ listed in the order are Rukmangada, Bali (in Tulu), Bhageeratha, Nala, Harishchandra, Sri Rama, Yaksha Prashne and Pandava Swargaarohana.

Some of the noted ‘bhagawathas’ (singer directors) who would participate are Puttige Raghurama Holla, Patla Satish Shetty, Dinesh Ammannaya, Subrahmanya Dhareshwar, Padyana Ganapathi Bhat and Polya Laxminarayana Shetty.

The ‘arthadaris’ include K. Govinda Bhat, Jabbar Samo Sampaje, Ujire Ashok Bhat, M. Prabhakara Joshi, Kumble Sundar Rao, Kolyur Ramachandra Rao, Vasudeva Ranga Bhat, M. L. Samaga, Moodambail Gopalakrishna Shastry, Sunnambala Vishveshwara Bhat and the like.

Sampaje Sheenappa Rai, Yakshagana artiste who was presented this year’s Rajyotsava award, would be felicitated at the inauguration, secretary of the Yakshangana Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli.  This event is awaited by a large number of enthusiasts.
