Mangaluru, Mar 23, 2015: On March 22, again Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swachh Bharath - cleanliness drive,  eight consecutive Sunday  at  Car Street here. Swami Anupamanandaji of Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad and Swami Prajnanathanandaji of Kadapa Ramakrishna Math inaugurated the drive. Students of SDM- Sri Dharmasthala Manjunateshwara Post-Graduate Studies took on car street locality and gave out information pamphlets to residents.

Students of Narayana Guru College cleaned the area near Temple square.  This week’s special focus was cleaning of the campus of Government First Grade College in Car Street. The volunteers also spruced up  Kala Mandira on the college premises. Several structures needed a fresh look. Buildings were washed and given a fresh coat of paint. JCB was used to clear garbage on the campus and leveling work done.  

These actions are a part of the 40 weeks cleanliness drive organized by the Ramakrishna Mission that started on February 1. Student volunteers from institutions taking part assemble in the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram on previous evening for an brief retreat - ’Swachh Manas’ and are taught meditation, bhajans and values of social responsibility, which they put in to practice in the field, the next day.  The participation and enthusiasm of the youth is becoming contagious and is seen as positive thing for the future.
