’Chittani’ Yakshagana Saptaha, Oct 17 to 23

Udupi, oct 15, 2016: The ninth annual Chittani Yakshagana Saptaha will be held under the joint auspices of Sri Krishna Mutt, Paryaya Pejawar Mutt and Sri Veeranjaneya Yakshamitra Mandali, Bangarmakki, at Rajangana in Udupi from October 17 to 23. The week-long Yakshagana will be inaugurated by Pejawar seer Vishweshatheertha Swami. Pejawar junior pontiff Vishwaprasanna Swami and others will take part in the inaugural programme.

’Chittani’ Yakshagana Saptaha, The valedictory will be held on October 23. Senior Sthree Veshadhari Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhya will be conferred ’Padmashri Chittani Ramachandra Hegade Award’ while senior Arthadhari Agali Krishna Rao will be presented with T V Rao Award on the occasion. The Sri Veeranjaneya Yakshamitra Mandali and guest artistes will present Yakshagana daily at 6.30 pm.

Artistes who accompanied Chittani Ramachandra Hegde in Himmela, namely Subrahmanya Dhareshwara, Kolagi Keshava Hegde, Ganapathi Bhat, Jansale Raghavendra Acharya, Sarveshwara Hegde Murooru, Shankara Bhagavatha Yallapura and AP Patak will take part.

Well-known Yakshagana artistes Balkuru Krishna Yaji, Kondadakuli Ramachandra Hegde, Argodu Mohandas Shenoy, Prof M L Samaga, Hadinabala Sripada Hegde, Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhya, Shiralagi Bhaskar Joshi, Vishnu Bhat Murooru, Shashikanth Shetty, Vidyadhara Jalavalli, Thotimane Ganapathi Hegde, Chapparamane Sridhar Hegde, Narasihma Chittani and Sudheer Uppooru will take part in the mummela of the Yakshagana.

We have to promote the young ones as they do not know the importance of this art . they are so many who go crazy hearing the sound of the Yakshanga, this shows passion towards it
