"Soombe" - Tulu film set for release

Mangaluru, Mar 12, 2015: "Soombe" (which  translates to  ’sorry’ ) will be the 54th Tulu film to be released after ’Madime’. this  latest Tulu film, will hit theatres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on March 13.

 

 

 

In an interaction with media on March 11, Wednesday, Saikrishna Kudla, director of  " Soombe"  and a Tulu theatre artiste, said that the film is a romantic comedy. He said it would be released in 12 theatres simultaneously. Of them four theatres are in Mangaluru, two in Karkala and others in Udupi, Manipal, Moodbidri, Puttur, Belthangady and B.C. Road.

Director,  Saikrishna said the film, produced by Sri Yajnadhya Productions, was shot in Mangaluru, Sakaleshpura and Bengaluru in a record time of 38 days.  The story of this Rs. 1 crore-budget film revolves around a team of Kannada filmmakers shooting a Tulu film. “It is a film within a film. It has elements of both action and comedy,” he said.

Rahul Amin from Dakshina Kannada and Shritam Banerjee, a television actress from Mumbai, play the lead roles in the film. Other actors include Srinagar Kitti, Bullet Prakash and Biradar.  Tulu theatre artistes appearing in the film include Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D. Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Arvind Bolar, Sundar Rai Mandara and Prasanna Shetty.

There are five songs in the film, with lyrics written by Shashiraj Kavoor and music composed by Edburg Dillon. Dance direction has been done by Madan Harini and Sada Master.  Produced by Kishore Kottari, Soombe’s story and screenplay are by famous  Saikrishna, who said that Tulu films were doing well these days with the support of Tulu-speaking people.  In deed an interesting story for Kudla.
