Mangaluru Nov 14, 2016: Rangayana theatre institute will hold Natakotsava from November 14th till November 16th at Townhall. This event is jointly organized by District Administration, MCC, Kannada and Culture Department, informed Director of Rangayana Dayanand.
Addressing media at Circuit House on Monday November 14, he said that this event will be inaugurated by Mayor Harinath. MLA JR Lobo will preside while DC Dr KG Jagadeesha, MCC Commissioner Nazeer, Mohammed Haneef, Roy Castelino and Janaki Brahmavar will grace the occasion.
Soon after the inauguration Rangayana artists will perform “Check mate” drama, On November 15th “Mahamaayi” and on November 16th “Thaledanda” drama will be performed, said Dayanand.
Regarding the future plans of Rangayana, Dayananda said Bahuroopi which is one of the Karnataka’s biggest theatre festivals will be held from January 13 to 17, 2017 as theatre troupes from different parts of the country will stage play on various issues.
Different editions of Bahuroopi have focused on issues like Social justice, children’s issues, children theatre, Desi culture and the culture of agriculture. All forms of drama find representation in this festival. Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival has activities like staging national-level dramas, street-plays, , mono-acting and folk art forms, besides arranging drawing, photo and handicrafts exhibition, book exhibition cum sale, interaction with artists, said Dayanand
He also said that under the guidance of prominent theatre director Suresh Anagalli, fresh drama will add on to Rangayana repertory on December 6 and will be performed during Bahuroopi-2017.
