Mangalore, Sep 28 , 2014 : At  KMC Hospital, Mangalore,  World Heart Day celebration will be a  heart day run, on September 28 - Sunday.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, KMC Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Anand Venugopal said the run will be flagged off at TMA Pai Convention Centre at 7 am and will conclude at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle at 9 am. Through the initiative, the KMC plans to increase awareness, educate and inform people about several cardiac issues.

“This year we will be attempting the largest human heart beat simulation to enter the Asia Book of Records. The run will pass through MG Road –PVS Circle – Bunts Hostel Circle and reach KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. The participants will receive many prizes namely for the ‘Best Corporate Participation,’ ‘Best Institution Participation,’ ‘Best Placard,’ ‘Best Slogan Shouting,’ and youngest and eldest participant who run/walk through this stretch”. Actress Sharmila Mandre will be the special guest for the event. International Athlete Clifford Joshua will be the torch bearer for the World Heart Day Run. Cardiac Surgeon Dr Sujeeth Suvarna said that 365 students including 35 students who were admitted in the hospital had taken part in the world health day drawing competition.

Free Heart camp: 


MANGALORE, : On the occasion of World Heart Day, Omega Hospital, Mangalore will conduct a free cardiac and diabetic check-up camp at its premises in Kankanady on September 29 between 8.30 am to 1pm.

Addressing media, Omega Hospital Director and Cardiologist Dr Mukund said the check-up includes blood examinations, BP, ECG, Echo Cardiogram and diet counseling. Specialist Drs’  will also be available for consultations. Concession cards will be provided to all participating in the camp, to avail medical facility in the hospital.
