‘Constitute joint legislature committee to probe irregularities’

Mangaluru, July 16, 2020:    MLA U T Khader has urged the government to constitute a joint legislature panel to probe into the corruption charges in the purchase of masks, PPE kits, as a measures to control Covid-19 cases in Karnataka.

 

There is an allegation on misappropriation of funds in the purchase of medical equipment, safety gears, beds and other equipment in the state. A joint legislature panel should be constituted to probe into the charges to bring out the truth. There is a vast difference in the market price and price quoted for the purchase of equipment and safety gears, he said.

Further, Khader said people are in distress following Covid-19 pandemic. In such a scenario, the private firms should extend helping hands for their employees. The government should initiate measures to generate employment under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in rural areas. The demands of Asha workers should be fulfilled by the government at the earliest, he said.

Solve confusion

The statement of District-in-Charge minister on free treatment for Covid-19 infected patients in private medical college hospitals, after furnishing details on Aadhaar has created confusion in the district.

Inspite of furnishing Aadhaar, there are allegations on hospitals charging the patients for treatment. The district administration should clarify on the same.
