Udupi, June 17, 2020: All the government hospitals in Udupi district will be upgraded, said Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha.
Chairing a Covid-19 review meeting held at Zilla Panchayat hall in Manipal on Tuesday, he said basic facilities would be improved in the hospitals.
It has been decided to convert Dr G Shankar Hospital in Kundapur as Covid designated hospital. Already, SBI has supplied four ventilators and Infosys Foundation three ventilators. The installation of ventilators is in progress.
He said all private hospitals and nursing homes should open fever clinics. The patients suffering from fever should be treated at the clinics and nursing homes. Only Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases should be brought to the notice of the district administration, he said.
The health officials are monitoring those quarantined at home regularly. The coming two months will be a challenge for the district administration, with an increase in the influx of people coming from other places to the state. Only symptomatic will be tested, he added.
