Yeddyurappa meets BDA officials in the wake of Lokayukta probe

Bangalore, Mar 25: A day after a local court ordered Lokayukta police probe into allegations of illegal denotification of lands by him favouring his kins, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa went into consultations with Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) officials.


Yeddyurappa summoned BDA Commissioner Bharatlal Meena and others for a discussion, according to official sources.


Chief Secretary S V Ranganath and some other officials were also present during the discussions, the details of which were not available.


In the first complaint filed by two advocates Sirajin Bhasha and K N Balaraj, they had alleged that Yeddyurappa denotified lands which had been notified by the BDA, in favour of his family members, who later sold it for monetary gains.


The complainants have also alleged irregularities in amalagamation of lands in Arkavathy layout and its denotification on the basis of a request by a woman, who was not the owner of the land.


Today’s meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of the court’s order and inquiry the Lokayukta police will begin after getting orders from court.


There are four more complaints filed against Yeddyurappa, his family members, former minister S N Krishnaiah Setty over alleged irregularities in denotification of lands, pending before the court.


Another complaint filed against Home Minister R Ashoka over denotification of lands he secured has also been referred to Lokayukta police probe.


The process of recording of statements from complainants on their second complaint will be taken up today by the 23rd Additional Civil and Session Court Judge C B Hippargi.
