Mangalore Today News Network

Bangalore: Sep 23, 2014, DHNS: Shisheer Rudrappa, a National Law School of India University alumnus, has been roped in to handle Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s social media accounts.

CMRudrappa, after his law graduation, had moved to the United States for postgraduation and was managing a private equity portfolio before taking a sabbatical to assist in launching the social sites.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced Rudrappa’s appointment as a special officer for the purpose. Rudrappa has been given charge to bring in additional reforms and transparency in government activities.

Admitting that he was not tech savvy, Siddaramaiah said, “I have been used to meeting people face to face for decades. But connecting with citizens via social media has become inevitable. About 65 per cent of population in the State is below 35 years of age. We have to use social media to connect with people.”

Asked whether he would tweet or his office would lend a hand, Siddaramaiah said: “I am not familiar with twitter and social media. Once I learn how to use it, I will tweet and update the facebook page myself.”

Till such time, Rudrappa will operate his accounts with Siddaramaiah’s consent on messages to be posted.
The CMO has, however, stated that the website and social media sites would not serve as grievance redress system.

“For now, it will be one-way communication and later we will try to make it interactive,” the chief minister’s media advisor said.
