Sexual assault accused ’Phalahari Maharaj’ arrested

Rajasthan Sep 23,2017 : Kaushlendra Prapanacharya Phalahari Maharaj, who has been charged with sexually assaulting his female disciple, was arrested on Saturday.

The 21-year-old victim from Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur had lodged a complaint against Rajasthan-based Phalahari Maharaj, alleging sexual exploitation.

The 70-year-old self-styled god man was arrested from the government hospital, where he was admitted.

The complainant’s father has claimed that his family had blind faith on him, but the accused baba has robbed them of everything.

Girl’s father, who was in Alwar along with his daughter who came for interrogation and identification purpose, said, "Police is cooperating well and the result seems to be much better than what had been thought because all officials are supporting us after listening to the truth and investigation is almost complete. Some people had to be identified. Identification is almost complete. We are satisfied with the action. Got good support from police administration and media. We people, our family, our society were connected due to blind faith. He has hurt us a lot."The girl’s father claimed Baba’s followers had contributed immensely in spreading his reach in Chhattisgarh, but everyone is hurt.

"We used to consider him as everything because our society was connected for several days. I myself had been connected for last fifteen years. My family, my society had been coming here since 1986. Because he used to give sermons very well. But, he will show this form, everyone is hurt thinking that. We had established a very big kingdom of his in Chhattisgarh. Everyone used to consider him God," said girl’s father.

He also claimed that there had been accusation levelled against Falahari Baba in the past as well which were brushed aside due to blind faith people had in him.

"One or two such cases had come, but due to blind faith, because of being behind the curtain, those people had boycotted. We people had also not cared, but when oneself has to suffer, then it has been taken seriously.

"He has looted us in every manner. This has been orchestrated by him. He is a very influential person. He has made the CCTV footage, camera, etc., to vanish. He had been anxious. That is why, he got admitted in the hospital," girl’s father mentioned.
