Sabarimala Temple gets digitised crowd management system

Kochi, Nov 09, 2018 : Nearly three lakh people, including 539 women in the age group between 10-50 years, have registered on the Digitised Crowd Management System (DCMS). The new online system enables devotees to opt for their preferred date and time to visit the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. The online portal has been started by Kerala police for the crowd management of devotees at the 12th-century shrine. The portal aims at making the visit of devotees to the iconic Sabarimala temple hassle-free.

Reports inform that the DCMS portal facilitates devotees to book a slot on the separate queue to visit the temple instead of waiting in the long queue usually formed at Pamba. With the implementation of this system, devotees can opt for their preferred date and time to visit the shrine. They can also fix the darshan timings and book bus tickets from Nilakkal to Pamba. The booking will be valid for 48 hours. The bookings for which can be done through the website - sabarimala.com. It must be noted that the online booking facility for darshan at the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple has commenced for the upcoming Mandala-Magaravilakku season.

After the Supreme Court’s landmark judgment to quash restrictions on the entry of women between the ages of 10 and 50 into the holy shrine, the temple and its surrounding areas witnessed a string of protests. According to a report by ANI, nearly 3505 protestors have been arrested so far in connection with the violence that broke out in the state.
