SUV Runs Over Three People in Delhi, Beer Cans Found in Car

New Delhi, Aug 21, 2014: One person died and two others suffered injuries after a Tata Safari drove over three homeless rickshaw pullers in central Delhi last night, in a case of alleged drunk driving.

Eyewitnesses say the SUV, moving from ITO towards Kashmere Gate, first hit the divider of the road, skidded and then ran over the rickshaw pullers who were sleeping at the side of the road. The impact was such that the vehicle flipped to its side.

According to eyewitnesses, the two occupants of the Tata Safari were apparently drunk and that there were cans of beer inside the vehicle. Both the occupants of the car have been arrested.

This is the second case in a week of alleged drunk driving in the national capital in which a car drove over homeless sleeping on the road.

On Sunday night, 13 people sleeping on the divider of a road in Delhi were run over by a driver who was allegedly drunk. One of those victims died.
