SPS wants Lokayukta arrested

Dharwad, July 30, 2015, DHNS: The Samaj Parivarthan Samudaya (SPS) on Wednesday demanded the arrest of Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao as “he was likely to hinder the investigations by the Special Investigation Team (SIT)” which is probing the charges of corruption in the Lokayukta office.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, SPS chief S R Hiremath said that since Lokayukta’s son Ashwin Bhaskar Rao was the main accused in the case, there were all the chances that Justice Bhaskar Rao would derail the SIT investigations to bail his son out.

He pointed out that there were serious allegations that Justice Bhaskar Rao had shifted many important files from the Lokayukta office to an undisclosed location.

“Justice Rao should be arrested immediately and all the missing files brought back to the Lokayukta office and handed over to the SIT,” he said.

Hiremath regretted that of late, the Lokayukta office was losing its sanctity and it was high time the government restored people’s faith in the institution.
