New Delhi, Nov 03, 2018 : Continuing his attack on the Modi regime, Congress president Rahul Gandhi once again raked up the Rafale issue by claiming that Dassault gave Rs 284 crore to purchase the land for industrialist Anil Ambani.

Addressing reporters at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, on Friday, Gandhi said, "This is the first installment of kickbacks that has been given to Anil Ambani by Dassault and this is clear as day. Dassault CEO said that the reason HAL was not given a contract and Anil Ambani was given, was because Anil Ambani had land. Now it turns out that the land that Anil Ambani had purchased was with the money that he got from Dassault."

Alleging that ’kickbacks’ were given during the Rafale deal, Gandhi stated, "Dassault gave Rs 284 crore to a loss-making company with a valuation of Rs 8,30,000, and so, this is one of the many tranches of money that Dassault has paid in kickback."

Calling it an open-and-shut case, Gandhi said PM Modi won’t survive an enquiry on Rafale.

Gandhi said, "What is the logic? Why have they invested in this company and then that money has been used to buy the land and the Dassault CEO is saying that the reason we gave Anil Ambani the contract was that he had land. You bought him the land, So you lied. There is some other reason."

Reiterating his demand for the matter to a Joint Parliament Committee (JPC) for scrutiny, the Amethi MP further slammed PM Modi and said, "The PM should have said that I am the chowkidar (watchman) of the country and let’s get the Rafale deal probed by the CBI, from SC or through JPC, but he is quiet on this matter."

Reacting to Gandhi’s allegations, a Reliance Infrastructure Ltd spokesperson said, "It is deeply unfortunate that the Reliance Group and its Chairman, Mr. Anil Ambani, are continuously being dragged into a political battle. The Congress has today once again resorted to blatant lies and distorted facts to mount an unwarranted campaign of calumny and falsehoods."
