PM Modi invites world’s vaccine makers to ’Make in India’ during address at UNGA

New Delhi, Sep 25, 2021: In his address at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, PM Modi invited the world’s vaccine makers to come to India.

"India became the first country to develop a DNA-based vaccine that can be taken by anyone who is above 12 years of age," PM Modi said.In his address, PM Modi paid tribute to all the people who lost their lives in Covid-19 pandemic, and extended his condolences to their families."For the last one and a half years, the whole world is facing the biggest epidemic in 100 years," said PM Modi.

 


PM Modi said India has once again begun to export vaccines to developing countries and his statement was received with applause.

India will resume its Vaccine Maitri initiative in October, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday. The central government supplied over 66 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to more than 70 countries as part of the Vaccine Maitri initiative earlier this year.

Modi also said, "Corona pandemic has taught the world that the global economy should be more diversified now."In a statement just before leaving for the US, PM Modi said his address at the United Nations General Assembly will focus on the pressing global challenges including the Covid-19 pandemic, the need to combat terrorism, climate change and other important issues.
