New Delhi, June 28, 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation on the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the present border dispute with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on his monthly radio programme Mann ki Baat.

India has given a befitting response to those who dared to eye her territory in Ladakh, Modi said, referring to the clash with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley on June 15. In this context, he also spoke of the economic backlash against China, mentioning how people have decided to boycott Chinese goods.

"Those who eyed Indian territory in Ladakh have received a befitting reply," the Prime Minister said. "If India knows how to maintain friendship, it can also confront someone and give an adequate response. Our brave soldiers made it clear that they will not allow anyone to taint the honour of their motherland," he added, referring to the clash in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the line of duty.

The prime minister said that the country will never forget the martyrdom of 20 soldiers who lost their lives while protecting the Indian borders from Chinese troops in Galwan Valley on June 15. "The inner sense of pride that families feel on the supreme sacrifice of their brave sonstheir sentiment for the country, constitutes the true power, the might of the country. India bows to our brave martyrs. They have always kept India safe. Their valour will always be remembered," PM Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, there could be any number of challenges but our country’s history shows that it has always overcome them. "People are commonly talking about one thing- when will 2020 end. They feel it has been a year of many challenges. There could be any number of challenges but our history shows that we’ve always overcome them. We’ve emerged stronger after challenges", he said.

"The coronavirus pandemic was discussed the most this year. But people are also discussing when this year will end. Some are saying this year is not good and some say it is unlucky. I think about why this is happening. About 6-7 months back we did not know that coronavirus type of crisis will hit us. There were challenges this year like cyclone Amphan, locust swarm attacks and what is been done by neighbouring countries," the Prime Minister said.

"Problems and challenges come but should we consider 2020 as bad. I don’t think so. No matter how many challenges come in a year, the year does not turn bad," he said.

"There is a new and strong opportunity for our generation and our start-ups. We should present India’s traditional games in a new and interesting form," Modi added.

Further the PM also urged to follow social distancing rules and water masks at all times. "As compared to Lockdown, we need to be even more careful now during Unlock. If you don’t wear masks, follow social distancing & other precautions, you put yourself as well as others at risk. I appeal to all countrymen to not be careless," he said.
