Speaking to India Today Sharma said she stripped in front of the policemen as they were harassing her. "Security guard misbehaved with me which led to me responding. It was because the police was harassing me to go to the police station with them that I had to remove my clothes. There was no woman constable present. They were forcing me to come to the police station. I want that the action should be taken against these policemen. Police has refused to register a complaint against these constables," she said.

As per the Criminal Procedure Code Section 160, women are exempted from being physically present at the police station. The police can interrogate a woman at her residence in the presence of her family.

A complaint has been registered for assaulting and intimidating security guard of her society. The incident took place on October 25 at Lokhandwala Complex where the woman lives on rent. According to the police, Sharma had complained against Arun, watchman of the building. She alleged that he misbehaved with her and that the altercation started as he refused to get cigarettes for her.

CCTV footage of the building lobby, where Sharma is seen beating Arun and later seen stripping, has gone viral. In the footage, she is seen beating up the watchman after which she called the police. In the video, three male policemen are seen blocking the elevator and asking Sharma to accompany them to the police station. Sharma can be heard refusing and saying she will come later.

Police said Sharma had refused to file a complaint. As per the statement given by the watchman, Arun, a non-cognisable complaint has been registered against Megha. "The incident took place after watchman refused to get her cigarette. We have registered a non-cognisable complaint under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. She can approach the police if she wants to register a complaint," said DCP Sandeep Bhakre.
