Karnataka govt turns 100 rooms of plush Bengaluru hotel into Covid centre for Ministers, MLAs

Bengaluru, Jun 25, 2020: The Karnataka government has reserved an entire wing of the plush Kumara Krupa Guest House in Bengaluru as Covid Care Centre for ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and senior officials of the state government for clinical management.

The Karnataka Health Department has issued an order to state that 100 rooms of the heritage building of Kumara Krupa Guest House will be turned into a Covid Care Centre (CCC).

The order states, “One wing of Kumara Krupa Guest House with 100 rooms of individual occupancy having all facilities is reserved to work as Covid Care Centre for the management of Ministers, MPs, Legislative Assembly and Council, senior officers of the Govt above secretary rank for clinical management.”

The management of the 3-star hotel have been asked to function at a reduced capacity of 33% for better management and also availability of rooms in the time of handling coronavirus.

A portion of the hotel, which is situated in a prime location in Bengaluru, is managed by the Karnataka State Tourism Department. KSTDC handles bookings for a section of the hotel.

The Karnataka government on Wednesday issued an order notifying establishment of fever clinics and swab collection centres in 66 private hospitals or medical colleges in the city, aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-l9.

It said, with the spike in number of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases, there is a need to increase the number of fever clinics and swab collection centres.

"The private medical colleges and private hospitals are instructed to work as fever clinics cum swab collection centres," the order dated Tuesday with a list of 66 private medical colleges and hospitals said.
