India sees 11,427 new coronavirus cases, 118 deaths in 24 hrs

New Delhi, Feb 01, 2021:    India on Monday registered 11,427 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the Covid-19 caseload in the country to 1,07,57,610, according to the Union health ministry. In the past 24 hours, 118 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll in India to 1,54,392.

 

India currently has 1,07,57,610 total cases, of which, 1,04,34,983 have recovered. The active coronavirus cases in the country stands at 1,68,235, the Union health ministry said.

India is at the fifth position globally in terms of the number of coronavirus vaccine doses administered within the country, while the total active cases have dropped to 1.68 lakh comprising just 1.57 per cent of the total cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

As of January 29, the country ranked fifth worldwide in term of vaccine doses administered, the ministry said.

Elaborating on the active cases, the health ministry said that 31 states and UTs have less than 5,000 active coronavirus cases. Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported 4 active cases followed by Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli with 6 active cases.

It said 79.69 per cent of the total coronavirus active cases are constituted in five states and UTs.
