India’s registers 28,701 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 8.7 lakh

New Delhi, July 13, 2020:    The total number of coronavirus cases registered in India so far has surpassed 8.7 lakh after the country recorded 28,701 cases in the past 24 hours.

According to data on the Union health ministry’s website, India has recorded 8,78,254 coronavirus cases so far. Of these cases, over three lakh are active and 5.5 lakh people have recovered after getting infected.

At least 500 new deaths were also reported in the past 24 hours due to coronavirus and the total toll now stands at 23,174.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 1,03,813 active cases and 10,289 deaths. In total, Maharashtra has registered over 2.5 lakh of the total number of cases registered in India.

Data on the health ministry’s website also showed that the recovery rate in Delhi is improving. The national capital now has 19,155 active cases and nearly 90,000 people have recovered after getting infected. Over 3,300 people have died from coronavirus in Delhi.

Tamil Nadu, with 46,972 cases and 1,966 deaths, is also among the worst-affected state in India.

Other states that are at risk include Andhra Pradesh with over 13,000 active cases and 328 deaths. Karnataka with over 22,000 active cases and 684 deaths.

According to ICMR, over 1.18 crore samples have been tested for coronavirus in India till July 12 and 2,19,103 samples were tested yesterday.
