IFFI 2014: Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan share the stage; Anupam Kher tweets memorable moments

Goa, Nov 27, 2014: International Film Festival of India, Goa’ (IFFI 2014) took off the ground on a grand scale, bustling with Cinema related activities and festivities galore! The never-ending,  lines of local and global delegates to view films of great masters and emerging film makers of India and overseas countries, reassert the fact that films are the most powerful and ultimate platforms for myriad human expressions and feelings.

The retrospective films of veterans like Mohsen Makhamalbaf of Iran, Krzysztof Kieslowski of Poland, Jeon Soo-il of South Korea, Guru Dutt, Gulzar, G.V.Iyer, Balu Mahendra, Sai Paranjape,  Shaji N.Karun, Janu Barua and others were treats to the appetites of the film fraternity.

FILM BAZAAR, organized by National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) at J.W. Marriot Hotel, buzzed with multi-faros activities involving film personalities and young film makers of India and abroad.

Excerpts of films were screened for the potential investors and financial bodies, pitching for funds for completion of the films. Iconic film makers like Gulzar, Shekhar Kapoor, Karan Johar, Vishal Bharadwaj and others enlightened the delegates by sharing their wealth of knowledge and experiences in the arenas of Script writing, Production, Direction, Distribution, Exhibition, Collaborations, Promotion of films on the net and other avenues , as per the need of the films belonging to varied genres.

The Bazaar screened several films of India, in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Assamese, Bhojpuri and others. Zee Vision’s Marathi film ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ was screened, which was the opening film of the prestigious ‘Panorama’ section of the festival. Seven Marathi films were selected for the Panorama section, which had overtaken the numbers of Malayalam films this year. 


There were sports related films like ‘Badlapur boys’ on Kabaddi. In nutshell, IFFI Goa 2014 has taken a big leap this year with its choice of films, master classes, open forums and interactive sessions for felicitating international collaborations, to name few.

Also, Cinema culture has paid its rich tributes to its founders – both men and women of yester- years in India and the world over by showcasing their images at the screening venues, which are truly inspiring, especially for the younger generations.
