Hospital Refuses to treat minor rape Survivor in Delhi

New Delhi, May 27, 2015: A Minor girl was allegedly not treated by the Civil Hospital here even though she was raped. The ordeal of the nineyear- old rape victim, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by her 17- year- old cousin, continued throughout Monday as her family moved from the Civil Hospital here to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, only to return late in the night to Gurgaon hospital for the formalities.

The incident took place in Subhash Nagar area here on Monday. After allegedly assaulting the girl when she was alone in the house, the accused had threatened her not to disclose the incident.

However, the girl was bleeding profusely; and her mother took her to Gurgaon Civil Hospital for medical treatment.

But without treating her, the hospital referred the girl to Safdarjung Hospital. At the Safdarjung Hospital, the victim finally underwent medical examination when the doctors told her parents that she had been sexually assaulted and that proper medical reports were needed to treat her further. And so, the victim and her parents returned to Gurgaon.

"We reached the Civil Hospital around 3 pm on Monday.

The doctors in the Casualty department did not treat her properly,"the victims father said. The doctors referred the girl to Safdarjung Hospital, allegedly without conducting any medical examination.

They did not even bother to inform the police about the assault, even though the girl was bleeding from her private part, the victims father alleged.

"I had repeatedly requested the doctors to take care of my daughter, but no one paid any heed,"he alleged.

The Civil Hospital referred the minor girl to Delhis Safdarjung Hospital.
