Gujarat Shocker: Angry over birth of sixth daughter, man stabs 4-day-old infant

Gandhinagar, Jun 25, 2018 : In a shocking incident, a four-day-old infant girl was stabbed to death by her father in Gujarat on Sunday.

 

 

The incident took place in Moti Masang village, close to Rakhial in Dehgam near Gandhinagar. The father, Vishnu Rathod, was reportedly upset over the birth of a daughter for the sixth time in a row.

Infuriated, Rathod allegedly stormed into his wife’s house and stabbed the infant’s ribcage with a knife. He then tried to run away.

"After stabbing the baby, he tried to run away, but my daughter and others created a commotion and the neighbours managed to nab him. We called 108 and rushed the baby to Civil Hospital," said Jaswant Jetsinh, the maternal grandfather of the baby, told DNA.

"The baby was brought to us in a severe condition and was immediately rushed into surgery. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injury at around 8.15 pm," said a doctor at the Civil Hospital.
