PM Modi had tweeted on Thursday, "As a part of Teachers’ Day celebrations, tomorrow at 10 AM I will attend a programme very close to my heart-interaction with school children."

"Interaction with school children is refreshing. The enthusiasm of children & their curiosity is always gladdening," the PM tweeted.

This is the second year that the PM will be interacting with students on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, which celebrates the birthday of India’s second President and scholar Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

During the 90 minute programme, students will get a chance to ask the Prime Minister questions.

The interaction will be broadcast live on Doordarshan. All India Radio will also air the programme.

Shortly after the PM’s interaction, President Pranab Mukherjee will interact with teachers and students at the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya inside the President’s Estate in Delhi.

President Mukherjee, who was a college teacher and a journalist before he joined politics in 1969, will also give lessons in political history to students of class 11 and 12 at the school.

The idea of a class was pitched by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia. The President agreed to be part of the state government’s "Be a Teacher" programme, where famous people volunteer to take classes.

The Delhi government has asked all schools to ensure that the children view the live telecast of the PM’s address. "After the PM’s address, children will remain seated and watch the President’s class with students of government schools starting at 11.45 am," a circular said.

Nine crore students had participated in the PM’s interaction last year and the attempt is to scale up the numbers significantly this year, officials said.
