Delhi: Four arrested for stripping teen on video

Mangalore Today/ PTI

New Delhi, May 29: Delhi Police are going to add charges of sodomy and others — under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act — to the FIR in the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old in Inderpuri. The additional sections were added after a video of the incident, allegedly showing the teen being sexually abused, surfaced.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident. Police have also identified the fifth accused, who is absconding.

The four arrested accused have been identified as Shankar, Sumit, Aman and Raju. Police have launched a search for the fifth accused.

Earlier, the accused were booked under charges of assault and wrongful confinement.

The teenager has undergone another medical test and no “fresh external injuries” have been found, Joint Commissioner of Police (south-western range) Dependra Pathak told The Indian Express Friday. He added that police had recorded the statement of the victim again.

Police had earlier claimed that the first medical test of the boy had revealed no sign of sexual assault.

“The victim’s statement was taken again. We will add Indian Penal Code sections 377 (unnatural offences) and 511(punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) along with section 4 and 12 of the POCSO Act,” said Pathak.

He added that since the accused had allegedly circulated the video of the incident, Section 65 of the IT Act would also be added to the FIR.

Initial investigation has revealed that the incident took place Monday, inside an office in the Inderpuri area which is allegedly owned by Shankar, one of the accused, said police sources.

According to the victim’s family, they got to know about the sexual assault Wednesday, after the video became public.

“We went to the police station Wednesday evening and showed police the video. But they refused to listen to us,” said the victim’s mother.
