College student held for raping 18-yr-old; threatened her with nude pics

Mumbai Nov 30, 2015 : The girl complained that the 20-year-old accused had raped her multiple times since May, holding the photos and videos over her head.

 

Days after mid-day reported how a 15-year-old schoolgirl’s gang rape came to light after a viral video of the crime reached her aunt, an 18-year-old college-going girl has come forward with a complaint against a fellow student who allegedly raped her after threatening to circulate nude pictures and videos of her.

In the wee hours yesterday, an 18-year-old girl and her parents approached the Kherwadi police station to register a rape complaint against a 20-year-old boy who lives in the samebuilding in Dharavi and attends the same college as her in Bandra.

In her complaint, the girl told the police that the boy had threatened to leak nude photos and clips of her on social media. With this threat, he took her to the terrace of the building opposite the college and raped her. The complainant told the police that the accused had raped her six times since May.


On checking the accused’s phone, the police recovered the videos the girl mentioned. The boy was arrested under Sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the IT Act.

Viral video
On Friday, mid-day reported the first case (‘Four boys held after girl’s aunt sees viral gang rape clip’), in which one of the boys had invited the 15-year-old girl to his home, where the four of them forced themselves on her and shot a video of the gang rape.

This video was then circulated and eventually reached the survivor’s aunt over a fortnight after the act, after which the boys — all between 15 and 16 years of age — were apprehended.
