Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, Jun 24 2017, DH News: The long wait for the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) ended on a happy note for Karnataka, with a student from Bengaluru securing the fourth rank.

NEETThe test, conducted by the Central Board for Secondary Education, determines admissions to medical and dental colleges across India. Results were declared on Friday.

Sankeerth Sadananda, a student of Delhi Public School (South), had initially set his target on a rank good enough for a seat in Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, or Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru. He surpassed his own expectations and secured the fourth rank in NEET scoring 692 out of 720. He had secured the 27th rank in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences entrance test.

Though KMC and BMC are well within his reach, Sadananda is keen on AIIMS, New Delhi.

“I don’t think there is any place better. Everyone dreams of studying at the premier institution and I wouldn’t let this opportunity pass,” he said.

Another good scorer

Another Bengaluru student, Rakshita Ramesh, has secured the 41st rank in NEET and hopes to study at Bangalore Medical College.

Though she could try for medical colleges in other states, she wants to be close to home.

Rakshita had secured the first rank in the admission test for Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy and BSc (Agriculture), but had been waiting for NEET results as she is keen on MBBS.

“I want to become a neurologist as I am interested in the human brain and its functioning,” she said. She said questions in the entrance test must not be confusing.
