Centre to give 5 kg free foodgrain to 80 crore poor for next 2 months

New Delhi, April 23, 2021:       Government of India has announced that will provide free foodgrain to 80 crore people under the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana in the next two months as the country grapples with the acute Covid-19 crisis.

The Centre on Friday announced that 5 kg free foodgrain will be provided to the poor for the month of May and June 2021. Around 80 crore people are expected to benefit from the scheme.

PM Narendra Modi has stressed that it is important that the poor of the country get nutritional support when the country is facing the second wave of coronavirus.

Government of India will spend more than Rs 26,000 crore to provide free foodgrain to the poor.
