New Delhi, September 12, 2014: A 16-year-old boy was thrashed and stabbed to death allegedly by six men after he refused to buy them cigarettes. The incident was reported from a JJ Colony in Northwest Delhi’s Wazirpur industrial area on Wednesday night.

Boy stabbed.jAccording to police, Ranjan, a Class XII student, sustained stab wounds on his left thigh and succumbed to injuries at Sunderlal Jain Hospital on Wednesday night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal  said all six accused have been arrested. They were identified as Ajay, Maneesh, Vinay, Neeraj, Subhash and Sachin, all residing in the same area. A case of murder, causing grievous hurt and wrongful restraint was registered at Bharat Nagar police station, police said.

Eyewitnesses told police that Ranjan was returning from his tuition classes along with a few friends when he was accosted by six men who were reportedly consuming alcohol at a park in the area. They allegedly asked Ranjan to go buy cigarettes for them from a nearby shop. “Ranjan and his friends refused and this angered the men. They assaulted the boys with sticks. One of the accused took out a knife and attacked Ranjan. The men then fled the spot,” a senior police officer said.

Eyewitnesses told police that an injured Ranjan chased the men for over 10 metres before collapsing in front of a house. The owner of the house, Devender Kumar, said, “He was bleeding profusely. There was also a trail of blood down the road. He collapsed before my house. I tried asking him about who attacked him but he fell unconscious. I then made a PCR call.”

“The PCR van reached the spot within five minutes of the call and Ranjan was rushed to Sunderlal Jain hospital,” the officer said.

“Doctors said a major artery in his thigh was slashed which led to excessive bleeding and resulted in his death. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and his parents were informed,” the officer said.
