Bishop Hinder told the Vatican news agency Fides that he was told in late April that Salesian  Rev Tom Uzhunnalil would be released soon.

"The last words, which are quite reassuring, I received indirectly about 10 days ago. I was told that Father Tom is alive, and that his return to freedom could be imminent. But since then nothing is heard.  We hope and pray for him," said the bishop, whose vicarate covers Yemen.

Rev Tom Uzhunnalil was kidnapped in the port city of Aden on March 4 from a home for the aged and disabled run by the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen. Four Missionaries of Charity and 12 others were murdered in the attack.   The Mother Teresa nuns in Yemen continue to operate their homes, Fides reported.
