After Vatsalya did poorly in the IIT entrance exam in 2009, he enrolled at Kota in Rajasthan, renowned for its coaching classes for IIT hopefuls.

"I was offered Rs. 1.02 crore per annum salary package by Microsoft and I will be joining in October this year," he said to news agency PTI.

Vatsalya’s father, Chandra Kant Singh Chauhan, who took a loan to pay for the coaching classes, said, "My 20-year-long dedication has yielded results and my dream has come true. My son is now going  abroad and I want him to make India proud abroad."

Chandra Kant, who has five other children, said he has now sent one of his daughters to Kota to prepare for the medical entrance exam.
