Biggest spike in India of 22,771 Covid-19 cases take total to 6.48 lakh

New Delhi, Jul 04, 2020: India has recorded the biggest single-day spike in coronavirus cases with 22,771 new cases in the past 24 hours. Along with these new Covid cases, India has also reported 442 deaths in a single day.

With this huge spike in new cases, total Covid tally in the country now stands at 6,48,315 while the death toll has reached 18,655 with the new additions of Friday.

With 6.48 lakh coronavirus cases in total, India now has 2,35,433 lakh active cases and 3,94,227 cured or discharged cases, according to the latest health ministry data.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with 1,92,990 coronavirus cases and death toll touching 8,376. Tamil Nadu has become the second worst-affected state after Maharashtra with 1,02,721 coronavirus cases. It is the second state to have over 1 lakh cases.

Delhi stands third with 94,695 coronavirus cases in total.

India is now ranked below US, Brazil and Russia, the three countries with the highest number of coronavirus cases. However, India has furthered inched closer to Russia’s tally of coronavirus cases.

While India has 6.48 lakh cases, Russia has 6.66 lakh coronavirus cases, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker.

Globally, coronavirus cases have crossed the 1.10 crore-mark with over 5.24 lakh people dead. United States continues to be the worst-affected country in the world with 27 lakh cases. Brazil comes second 15 lakh cases.
