Amit Shah on horse-trading allegations: They bought an entire stable

New Delhi, May 21, 2018 : BJP President Amit Shah on Saturday said his party would have managed to show a majority in the Karnataka assembly had BS Yeddyurappa got 15 days for the floor test.

"Had we got the 15-day period to prove our majority, their party MLAs would have gone to their constituencies and they would have changed their mind," said Amit Shah at India TV conclave.

"Their MLAs were not afraid because of us, their own party leadership had created a sense of fear among them. Had they taken out victory processions in their constituencies, the MLAs would have easily sensed the mood of the people," said Amit Shah.

After the fractured mandate, Congress and JD(S) accused BJP of horse-trading. But Amit Shah denied the allegations.

"They are levelling horse-trading charges against us, but in reality, they bought an entire stable," he said, pointing towards the CM post offered to Kumaraswamy after the post-poll alliance between JD(S) and Congress.

"This is an unholy alliance and such governments do not last long," added Shah.

The mood for 2019 general elections was set in Karnataka elections.

Despite the ruling BJP not getting a majority, and BS Yeddyurappa resigning ahead of the crucial floor test, Amit Shah said it was too early to say his party will lose in Lok Sabha elections.

He claimed BJP will get more seats in 2019 than it did it in 2014.
