Air India flight hits building at Stockholm airport

Sweden, Nov 29, 2018 : An Air India flight that had more than 180 people on board met with a minor accident at an airport in Sweden. The plane struck a building with its wingtip, which partially destroyed the aircraft’s wing.

 

The incident took place at around 5:45pm on November 28 (local time) at the Stockholm Arlanda Airport, where the Air India flight, a Boeing 787-800, had landed from New Delhi.

The Swedish police said in a statement, "A Boeing aircraft crashed with its left wing tip in a building when it was on its way to Terminal 5."

The police said that all the 179 passengers were evacuated using a mobile staircase. The aircraft was left as is after it met with the accident in order to aid investigation.

A local news website quoted a passenger as saying that the "whole plane" shook when the Air India flight hit the building.
