5-Year-old Allegedly Raped in Mumbai Kept Waiting for Hours as Policemen Argued

New Delhi, Apr 24, 2015: A five-year-old girl, allegedly raped in Mumbai on Tuesday night, was kept waiting for hours as policemen of two areas argued over who should take the case.

The little girl was bleeding when she was taken from one police station to another, before being finally taken to a hospital.

The police say the child went missing when her mother sent her out for some work.

CCTV footage shows a man carrying her away from outside her home at Wadala in central Mumbai. She was allegedly raped at Antop Hill, around 2 km away.

A woman found the girl crying at around 11 pm and called the police. A police team first took her to the Antop Hill police station and then to Wadala. By the time she was taken to hospital, it was around 1.30 am.

Senior police officers have admitted that the child was forced to wait but no action has been taken.
