11-year-old Raped in Jalandhar, Furious mob beat Accused to death

Jalandhar, Jun 02, 2019 : A 39-year-old migrant labourer was beaten to death in Rama Mandi area of Punjab’s Jalandhar after he was allegedly caught raping an 11-year-old girl on Sunday. According to the reports, the accused have been identified as Pappu Kumar, a native of Bihar. He allegedly took minor to his residence and raped her. When residents heard the girl scream they rushed to the spot and found her lying in a pool of blood, Yahoo reported.

 

Kumar lived in the same vicinity of the survivor’s family. Angry residents thrashed Kumar, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition. Till the time police officials reached the spot the accused was seriously injured. He was taken to the government hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. "We received information this afternoon that an 11-year-old girl was raped by a man in Rama Mandi area, accused had already been beaten up by a mob before we reached the spot, he later died. The girl is undergoing treatment," said Harsimrat Singh, ACP Jalandhar (Central).

Singh said, “The accused took the minor when her parents were away and she was playing with her siblings.” The survivor’s parents are also labourers who belong to Jharkhand. Meanwhile, investigations have been launched.
