The complaint was filed by AAP’s Atishi Marlena who, in a press conference held in Delhi, claimed that Gambhir had two voter IDs in two separate constituencies of Delhi, Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar.

She claimed that Gambhir, in his affidavit to the returning officer while filing his nomination had “concealed the information that he is also registered to vote in Karol Bagh, which is punishable under Sec 125A of the Representation of the People Act with up to 6 months jail time.”

On Twitter, she tweeted two photographs of of the electoral rolls from Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar showing Gautam Gambhir as being registered to vote from the two constituencies.

Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir had joined the BJP on March 22 saying he was “impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision”.

“I am impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision... I have contributed to the field of cricket and now hope to do more for the country”, the 37-year-old cricketer had said.

On Tuesday, Gautam Gambhir had held a roadshow in Delhi ahead of filing his nomination from BJP’s East Delhi seat. The BJP has opted to field Gambhir instead of its sitting MP Maheish Giri.

The seven Lok Sabha constituencies of Delhi will go to polls on May 12. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
