Women’s Bill row: 7 MPs suspended in Rajya Sabha




New Delhi, March 9: In an effort to reign in the errant MPs from disrupting the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari has suspended seven members from the SP, RJD and LJP for the remaining part of the current session.

Ejaz Ali, Subhash Yadav, Veerpal Singh Yadav, Sabir Ali, Nand Kishore Yadav, Kamal Akhtar and Amir Alam Khan were suspended after Parliamentary Affairs Minister for State Prathvi Raj Chauhan moved a resolution to this effect.

These members were resorting to unruly behaviour in the House.

The Rajya sabha is likely to take up again the Women’s Reservation Bill.

However, as soon as the house assembled at 11 am to take up the question hour, RJD and SP member’s created uproar over non-implementation of Ranganath Misra Commission report on minority welfare.

Rajya Sabha was then adjourned till 12 noon. When the house assembled, it was once again adjourned till 2 pm.

The Lok Sabha was first adjourned for 10 minutes and then till Noon amidst logjam over Women’s Reservation Bill.

The Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar first adjourned the House till 11.35 hrs, twenty five minutes after continuous sloganeering by the members of RJD, SP and some JDU members who were seen in the well of the house including their leaders Lalu Prasad, Mulayam Singh Yadva and Sharad Yadav.

When the House reassembled there was no change in the situation and the House was adjourned again till noon.
